Here are some of the great new features for Pro Tools 7.3Dynamic TransportThe new Dynamic Transport mode improves your loop composition workflow. This allows you to make changes on the fly without manually stopping and restarting the transport. Another advantage is if you have a long selection and all you wanted was to keep your looped selection but wanted to start playback (auditioning the end of your loop) at a location within the selected area. This is a real time saver for auditioning long selected areas that loop.
Loop trimming
With the new Loop Trim tool, you can turn any audio or MIDI region into a loop instantly. After desired loop is created using one of the many editing techniques of Pro Tools, place the looped region (Audio or midi) at any desired location (preferably at a beginning of a bar), then go to the trim tools new (loop trimmer). Then place your trim tool cursor near the right region end boundary and trim as usual. Except now the trim tool is trimming a “loop” instead of “region content.” This is another great time saver when working with looped information. Region Grouping
When you are in the arranging stage of production another quick tip is using the “Region Group” feature. The goal of region grouping is for you to select more than one region (audio or Midi) and make them into one big (temporary) region. You create a Region Group in the following manner:
Its that easy! After selecting region GROUP, you now have all those separate regions as one new “Region Group” This is a really big time saver for “flying” vocals (that have already been established as the hook or chorus) to a second or third chorus without re-recording it. Another way to use it is for “grouping" your entire sections of your song (i.e.) (chorus, verse, etc.) Note: to ungroup the big region group simply selects the grouped region and go to Region menu then “UNGROUP” This can make re-arranging a breeze. Enjoy and have fun creating!
