The new Pro Tools 7.4 stretch audio auditioning features are amazing.
Here is a tip for you to push the envelope when bringing audio loops into your session. For this example, we are set the tempo of your session to 125 BPM.First make sure that you have prepared perfect loops to audition and have them available. If you’re using a sample CD, the loops will already be edited to perfection. Be sure to audition loops in real time before committing or dragging them to timeline. Now make a selection in Pro Tools of the section where you want to insert the new loop. Go to workspace browser (window menu). When the browser opens, navigate to your samples folder, CD or archive. Notice that there is a "metronome" looking icon at the top. Select it when it turns "green". Play your session while clicking on the speaker next to your sample. When the loop auditions it will wait for the downbeat and audition your loop to the tempo of the song. Is that cool or what! There’s no way you canbeat its algorithmic precision. If it doesn’t sound right, pick a different algorithm next to the metronome. (Rhythmic Monophonic, Polyphonic). Just a note, remember when you drag a file into the session, be sure it’s a tick based audio track. Have fun creating!
