Internationally recognized music technologist Craig Anderton teaches this intense one day (9 hour) course covering all the essentials of loop-based music, from creation to composition. This class is designed for engineers and musicians who want to understand looping from the ground up, as well as those familiar with loops but who want to expand their skills and self-sufficiency.

"All About Looping" is a goldmine of information about all aspects of loops and loop-based music, and is essential for those working in today digital music media, whether for purely musical or audio-for-video applications. Students will come out of the class able to create their own loops, optimize commercially-available loops, and most importantly, apply them in musical, cutting-edge ways.

  • Different approaches, with pros and cons, to creating loops
  • Why do some loops sound so much better than others when time-stretched?
  • Recording with successful looping in mind
  • Creating REX format loops with ReCycle
  • ReCycle as signal processor
  • Using ReCycle to create time-stretched audio files
  • How to create time-sliced loops in any host program
  • Using REX files with programs that DNA support the format
  • Tweaking sample CD loops for optimum time-stretching
  • Editing techniques to make loops come alive
  • Special effects with loop editing
  • Loops in live performance - the "Performing Engineer"

Familiarity with concepts that include basic computer skills, some audio recording knowledge
