1. What
is a Digidesign Certified Pro Tools Operator & Expert?
A Digidesign Certified Pro Tools
Operator is a person who is certified by Digidesign
to be able to efficiently operate a sophisticated
Pro Tools system (TDM) in a professional environment.
A Digidesign Certified Pro Tools
Expert is a person who has reached the highest
level of Pro Tools training and is able to operate
a sophisticated Pro Tools system (TDM) professionally,
efficiently and with superior skill. [Why
get certified?]
2. I
already know a lot about Pro Tools, will this
training still benefit me?
Most people learn to use their
tools "under fire" and are unable to concentrate
on the basic concepts that make the system work
and stay working. Attending training is a great
way to understand all the possibilities available
to you and much more. Any person that uses Pro
Tools, or is involved with music technology (at
any experience level), will benefit from training
at the Pro Tools Training Center.
3. How
do I become a Digidesign Certified Operator or
a Digidesign Certified Expert?
The first step in becoming a Certified
Operator is to successfully complete the required
courses; Pro Tools 110, 201, and 210 (Music or
Post). These are the required training courses
for Operator certification. Once you have successfully
completed the requisite courses, you will be tested
by Digidesign to insure your qualifications. Upon
successfully passing the Digidesign certification
exam, you will receive your Operator certification.
To become a certified Expert,
you must first be a certified Operator. Expert
Certification is the next level beyond Operator
and requires the successful completion of both
Level 300 classes and the Expert certification
exam. [Course

4. What
other classes are offered besides Digidesign
Certified courses?
Lots of unique and exciting classes
are offered on a regular basis. We offer a variety
of courses that can help you before, during, and
after your Digidesign training classes. [Course
Catalog]
5. Why
should I choose the Pro Tools Training Center
for my Pro Tools Training?
We are, without question, the
best training center for Pro Tools in the industry.
Our reputation and list of satisfied students speaks
for itself. For over 2 years we have trained hundreds
of professionals from Los Angeles to Atlanta; Hong
Kong to France. Our instructors and advisory board
are some of the premier professionals in the industry.
The knowledge our team possess goes far beyond
that found in a book. It comes from actual experience
using Pro Tools in the real world ... and that
benefits you, the student. We also provide you
with complete support including the ability to
retake the class at no cost if you fail to obtain
certification. [Our
Promise]
6. How
many people are in a typical class, what type
of equipment do you use and how many people share
the equipment?
A typical class will have anywhere
from 6 to 14 people per class. We like the classes
to be small enough that each student receives personal
attention while large enough that students get
a wide range of students to interact with. Students
often learn as much from working together they
do from us.
We use HD2 or HD3 systems with
96 or 192 interfaces and Control 24 or Pro Control
Boards. We use both Macintosh and PC machines with
lots of power behind them.
7. Is
it possible to become an Expert without being
a Certified Operator first?
Sorry, but Digidesign doesn't
allow that. You may choose to take all of the coursework
to become an Expert Certification (completing Operator
courses and 300 level courses), but you will not
be certified without first gaining the necessary
experience. Level 300 requires hands-on experience
that goes beyond the courseware. If your situation
dictates that you need to take all of your training
in a condensed period of time, we will allow you
to do so. However, Digidesign administers all exams,
therefore you must meet their criteria for becoming
certified, beyond completing your coursework.
8. How
do I know if I qualify for financial aid?
Many
students get an instant response when applying
for Sallie Mae financing over the internet. Faxed
applications require a longer processing time.
The best
way to monitor the progress of your application is to call Sallie Mae Financing
(888) 272-5543 and speak to a Student Loan Officer.
9. Would
it be possible to take any specific course, for
instance 210M without taking 110 or 201?
Sort of. We don't encourage a
person to go straight into 210 training since the
pace of the class is very fast. If you're not fluent
in the terminology and lessons in the 110 and 201
courses, you are likely to have trouble keeping
up. While we discourage this practice, we will
allow it, but it is your responsibility to keep
up with the rest of your class without slowing
it down. You WILL NOT be eligible for certification
by completing 210 level training without first
completing your required coursework. If you would
like to start in PT201, please see the previous
question for an explanation.
