With the release of Pro Tools 2020 we will see the introduction of Folder Tracks. This new feature allows you better ways to manage workflow fo Editing, Routing, and Mixing sessions. Ideal for Music and Post Production, Folder Tracks allow you to manage a session in a fluid and streamlined fashion.
Folder Tracks, one of the most requested features for Pro Tools is finally coming to life with the introduction of Pro Tools 2020. These new track features allow you to organize your session by combining multiple tracks into a single Folder Track. The Folder Track will allow you to Edit across all member tracks, as well as allow for Routing and Mixing options straight from the Folder Track itself. You will also be able to stack Folder Tracks up to 8-layers deep for multi track control.
2 Folder Track Types
Basic Folder Tracks - Allow for the organization and editing of multiple tracks into a single Folder Track
Routing Folder Tracks - Allow audio signal to pass through the Folder Track, much the same way an Aux Track works. You can apply inserts, sends, and automation to the Track Folder. Individual tracks within the Folder can maintain their original routing i/o, or they can auto-route to the i/o mapping of the Folder.
Features:
Editing - Folder Tracks allow you to edit across all members of the folder, as well as open the folder to edit individual tracks. You have the best of both worlds when it comes to workflow options.
Track Presets - You can save Folder Tracks (and their underlying members) as a Track Preset. This includes any media (Audio, MIDI, or Video) you want to include with the preset.
Backward Compatibility - When a session of opened in a prior version of Pro Tools, Routing Folder Tracks turn into Aux Tracks, and Basic Folder Tracks disappear while leaving the individual track members alone.
