Kaleb D Allen, 2023 Grammy Nominated audio engineer for Atlantic Records and Nightbird Studios in Los Angeles, CA, explains the impact that Promedia Training (Pro Tools Certification) had on his professional career. Kaleb achieved a level of excellence in Pro Tools that really set him apart, particularly to Sting, one of the most renowned musicians and songwriters off all times.
2023 Grammy Nominated Student, Kaleb D. Allen Works With Sting
We congratulate Kaleb for his Feb 2023 Grammy Nomination for his contributions on the Shaggy and Sting Album, for Best Reggae Album of the Year, "Com Fly Wid Mi." In this video, Kaleb talks about the impact that ProMedia Training had on the course of his career.
As Kaleb says," Working with 20-year renowned Avid Instructors who known Pro Tools inside and out made all the difference. They know both sides of Pro Tools and traditional audio engineering. It's not just about the software, but how it's used in a creative process along with speed and efficiency. You have to adapt to each client walking in the studio door and be able to deliver what they are asking of you in the studio, without hesitation, or the clients will go elsewhere."

Achieving success in the music industry isn't easy in a competitive landscape; and after feeling stifled in various assistant audio engineering positions, Kaleb set his mind on getting faster, more diverse, and proficient in Pro Tools.
During Covid, he attended official Avid Pro Tools Certification bootcamps at ProMedia Training."These Pro Tools immersion programs are short term courses of intense Pro Tools Training in which you practice techniques for multiple months with the instructors, even after your main training is completed. Even though I did go through a music and basic audio engineering program at another school years back, the Pro Tools side of it was VERY minimal, and I knew there was a tremendous more I needed to learn,"Kaleb said.
Kaleb is also now contracted by ATLANTIC RECORDS as a lead audio engineer, one of the few major labels of the world. Kaleb's progression from assistant engineer in 2021 to lead engineer in 2022 after attending ProMedia Training is noteworthy.
Kaleb D Allen Behind the Console
Kaleb's love of The Police would soon come to fruition upon meeting Sting, (Gordon Sumner), while working on a session for world-renowned reggae superstar, Shaggy (Chris Ascher). "I had just finished my 101/110 training with ProMedia when this session came up," said Kaleb. "The training gave me the edge that I needed, and my Pro Tools speed and efficiency made them want to come back to continue working with me. My confiendence also increased tremendously, allowing me to make bolder decisions in the studio and take on sessions I would have avoided in the past."
Shaggy was in the studio laying down the tracks for "Com Fly Wid Mi." Sting has received 17 Grammy awards, and Shaggy has been nominated eight times, and has two Grammy Awards.
Said Kaleb, "Shaggy was a kind person, and very professional. I was impressed by his technical knowledge of a recording studio. He was easy to get along with, and a true visionary; he knows exactly what he wants, but not abrasive to work with. Sting is the most at-peace artist that I have ever worked with. Multi-talented. He and I clicked really well. And it helps that I grew up listening to him."
Since then, Kaleb can be seen working in the studio with many major label artists. And we look forward to seeing his successes continue to expand.
