Sept 15, 2023: Avid has just announced exciting new features coming soon to Pro Tools: Built-In Noise Reduction with iZotope RX, and the integration of Dolby Atmos Renderer. There are also new features providing deeper interoperability between Media Composer (video editor) and Pro Tools, as well as showing off the new MTRX II audio interface. Let's take a look at what you can expect in the near future.
iZotope RX Integration In Pro Tools
The most exciting announcement (for us) is the integration of iZotope RX directly into Pro Tools. iZotope RX has become the industry standard for Noise Removal, and Audio Restoration in Post Production, Music, and Content Creation. In the past, users have to use RX side-by-side with Pro Tools, often involving a lengthy process of exporting, and re-importing audio files. This new features will allow users to access RX directly in the Pro Tools timeline. Similar to how Melodyne is integrated, users will be able to access this feature "on-the-fly" with a simple click. For anyone currently using RX in their workflow this presents a tremendous time-savings.
Dolby Atmos Renderer In Pro Tools
It's no secret Dolby Atmos has become the default Spatial Audio system for Music, and Post Production. Avid and Dolby have worked hand-in-hand for several years of constant development. Currently, the Dolby Atmos Renderer is separate software that you must run in addition to Pro Tools. There is quite a lengthy setup process to route audio from Pro Tools into the Renderer. With this upcoming release the Renderer will be built-in to Pro Tools directly, eliminating the need for complex configurations, and allowing for more streamlined collaboration. The new system will allow users to save all the mix data directly in your Pro Tools session, ensuring users and studios have complete compatibility across projects.
MTRX II Audio Interface
Another exciting new product is the introduction of the MTRX II audio interface. This new interface expands upon the previous version by now offering up to 256 Audio Channels via Dante, and Speaker / Room Correction across a full 64 channel for Theatrical Dolby Atmos environments. Also, it introduces a new Thunderbolt 3 option allowing users to connect directly to host computers, running Pro Tools native, other DAWs, all while still being connected to HDX via Digilink.
