Grammy-Award Winning Mixing engineer, Rick Clifford, obtained the prestigious AVID Pro Tools Dolby Atmos Mixing Certification at ProMedia Training. Rick was the former chief engineer of Death Row and mixed some of the most iconic Hip-Hop Artists of all time, including multi-platinum albums for Tupac, Dr Dre, the Jackson family, and over 100 major label artists.

Rick Clifford has been an established mixing engineer at major facilities for 40 years. He won a Grammy for "I Will Survive," the classic disco record that will retain its place in history as an all-time classic.

He stands up to his belief that you must stay on top of audio engineering technology in the music industry. Known for mixing Dr. Drey's and Tupac's biggest selling records, Rick has a strong perspective stating that professional audio engineers need continued education to not become obsolete and "fall behind."

Working recently in the studio with  9-Times Grammy Winning, Mick Guzouski, Rick explains his position of why he chose to take official Avid Dolby Atmos Mixing Certification.

The stakes are high when working with major label artists. There are NO room for errors. Rick attended ProMedia Training's 3-week Dolby Atmos Mixing course which comes with several additional months of mentorship and reviews. The latest version of Pro Tools, 2024.3 released March 7, 2024, now offers Pro Tools MIDI Effects Plugins that allow you to quickly create and modify and experiment with MIDI to bring your musical ideas to life. Several months after exploring its options, Avid Technology was sold to a tech focused private equity firm, STG for $1.4 billion. The good news is critics can finally squash flying rumors that a competitor like Apple is buying it. The newly purchased company is going to be held privately once more, allowing it to NOT have to operate based on appeasing shareholders’ demands. This is great news for Pro Tools Users and again reinforces that Pro Tools is the standard in the industry for commercial recording, editing and mixing.

Oct  27, 2022 - Avid Technology just released a new multi-mic pre audio interface at the AES Show in NY last week. The Pro Tools | Carbon Pre uses built-in DSP derived from the flagship HDX systems to give you incredibly low-latency recording and the flexibility of the Hybrid Engine. 

Avid has just released the latest version of Pro Tools: 2022.9. Amongst the many changes, the most anticipated change is the addition of Melodyne ARA directly in your Pro Tools session. You no longer have to use Melodyne as a separate plug-in, and can now be accessed directly on your audio tracks allowing you to make changes to pitch,tune vocals and fix timing as part of your editing workflow.

With the release of Pro Tools 2022.4 on April 26, 2022,  Avid has introduced THREE new versions of the software, as well as a new Drum Machine and Synthesizer, increased recording and more workflow capabilities across the board. You can download this latest update right now from your Avid account.
