Video Tutorial-How To Use McDSP Ultimate Channel Strip 6050

Learn how to use the McDSP 6060 Ultimate Channels strip in your sessions to improve everything about your mixes.

The 6050 Ultimate Channel Strip is arguably the most feature laden product in McDSP’s 18 year history. The 6050 is a combination of all the modules from the 6030 Ultimate Compressor and 6020 Ultimate Equalizer plug-ins, plus many additional modules, in a 3-bay lunch-box style interface.

Modules, Modules, Everywhere

The 6050 has no less than 28 modules for EQ, filtering, compression, downward expansion, saturation and outright distortion. The near excessive range of options in the 6050 is managed by easy drag and drop, on the fly module auditioning. Modules will also retain settings between various EQs, Compressors, etc. as much as possible so A/B-ing different options is fast. Module selection can be changed by either using the Module Selector panel on the far left of the interface, or by choosing from the popup menu on the upper right of every module. Each module can be individually bypassed as well. To arrange the order of the modules, just click and drag the module itself to another slot – the other modules will automatically move out of the way.

Input and Output metering, along with input and output gain controls (and phase buttons !!), are included in the 6050. Side chaining is available for any of the three modules, all processing is double precision, and at ultra low latency.

If you want to know more about the EQ or compressor modules, check out the articles about the 6020 Ultimate EQ and the 6030 Ultimate Compressor. The EQ modules in the 6050 are the same as those found in the 6020 Ultimate EQ. The compressor modules are also identical, with the exception that each compression module in the 6050 has its own makeup gain.
