Pro Tools Specialist Certification
The PT101 Course introduces you to the core principles needed to use Pro Tools. Regardless of whether you are a beginner or seasoned user, this course lays the groundwork for all things Pro Tools. Learn how to build sessions, record audio and MIDI, use editing tools, keyboard shortcuts, signal flow concepts, mixing, automation, and much more.
Building upon the foundations of PT101, this PT110 course dives deeper into workflow techniques, session management, and understanding audio hardware options. Learn advanced techniques used in recording, editing, mixing, and workflow shortcuts. After passing the Avid Exam upon course completion, you are eligible for your official Avid Pro Tools Specialist Certification badge.
After successfully completing PT101 and PT110 and passing the exam, you earn the Avid Certified | Pro Tools Specialist badge. Free exam retakes are available for students auditing courses. Whether you’re a working audio professional or an active student, Pro Tools certification validates your skills in today’s global production industry.
Your certification does not expire, but your badge reflects the Pro Tools version of the exam completed. Recertification is available for continued professional development at reduced fees.

From advanced recording and editing, to signal-flow and mixing, Pro Tools Professional Certification gives you the tools to progress your career in the audio industry
- Pro Tools 201: Production I
- Pro Tools 210: Production II (Music and Post)
- Pro Tools Professional Certification formerly Operator
The PT201 advanced course covers the skills and concepts needed to operate an Avid Pro Tools HD system in a professional production setting. This course expands on techniques in PT101 and PT110 by introducing larger, more advanced Pro Tools configurations and a more complex mixingneviornment. You will also learn how to set up, configure, and work with Pro Tools HD systems and Pro Tools Ultimate software.
The Pro Tools PT210 course allows you to focus on your primary interest, Music Production (PT210M), or Post Production (PT210P). Due to the extreme technology difference, as well as purpose, there are vast sets of functions within Pro Tools that focus specifically on Music Production, while other functions are utilized in TV/Film Post Production.
For people working in both fields, you can take both courses, as well as each Certification Exam if you wish to be certified in both Music and Post Production.
Once you complete the coursework for PT201 and PT210M or PT210P (music or post-production), you are eligible to take the Avid Exam for your Avid Certifed | Pro Tools Music Professional or Pro Tools Post Professional.
You have a choice as to which path suits your needs, either Music Production for audio engineers in traditional music-based recording studios, or Post Production for motion picture/ film mixing. You also have the option of taking both exams if you complete both courses.
