In this quick tutorial video, you'll learn how useful, and easy it is to edit with Clip Groups in Pro Tools. Clip Groups allow you to treat entire sections of audio and MIDI as one chunk of data, as opposed to the individual pieces. For example: copy/paste/move an entire section of a vocal without having to select each individual clip. Watch the video to learn more.
Of the many editing feature in Pro Tools, one of the most useful is Clip Groups: a collection of audio, midi, or video clips that are grouped together to act as one. Clip Groups allow you to treat an entire range of files on one track, or several tracks, as if they are a single file. This makes things such as copy/paste, moving, and re-arranging much easier that if you were to try it with individual files while trying to preserve the relative timing between them.
In the example above, the final audio track edit is made up of different pieces sections of audio files. If we needed to move this arrangement, or copy/paste, to a different part in the session, we would have to make sure we select each individual file, as well as make sure we maintain any timing between those files, including the beginning and end. To make this easier on ourselves, we can Clip Group all the files into a single clip.
