The one thing ALL audio production work has in common is the need to apply Plugin Automation. The ability to move knobs, faders, and buttons, of a plugin to have it change settings over time.
Keyboard Shortcut: Plug In Automation
The easiest way to enable plugin parameters for automation is to use the keyboard shorcut: control + option + command (mac) / cntrl + alt + start (windows).
While holding down the keyboard shortcut, click on the button/knob/fader you want to enable for automation.
Select "Enable..." from the dropdown menu
Repeat the same steps to Dis-Able that same parameter from automation.
