The new Splice integration with Pro Tools—which is now available in Pro Tools 2025.6—brings millions of Splice’s royalty-free samples & loops directly into Pro Tools for enhanced workflow and instant creative inspiration.

How To Use Splice in Pro Tools

All you need to get started is the latest version of Pro Tools and a Splice account.
Note: according to Avid’s website, “Pro Tools users can create a free Splice account to get over 2,500 free samples or subscribe for $12.99/month and get access to the full Splice library”

Built-in Splice Browser

On the right-hand side of the edit window (with the Clips List visible), you’ll see a new tab titled “Splice.” Simply open it and login to your splice account. The layout is similar to the standalone application that Splice users have become accustomed to. From here you can easily browse samples & loops as well as audition them at the tempo (and key!) of your current project--even while your timeline is playing. This allows you to instantly hear Splice loops alongside your music and media projects. 

**Tip: You can “pop” this tab out just like you can with the Clips List and Clip Effects by clicking the icon that looks like a “picture in picture” symbol at the top of this tab.

AI-Powered | “Search with Sound”

Not sure what sample or loop your song or project needs? You can simply drag and drop (or select an audio or midi clip) from your timeline and click “Search with Sound” and Splice will suggest samples that match the tempo, key and vibe with impressive detail. It’s brilliant! You can even record an idea on piano and it will interpret that idea and make a variety of suggestions with various instruments playing a similar chord progression and/or rhythm.

Drag and Drop:

Once you’ve found the perfect sample, just drag and drop it onto an audio track. The sample will automatically be time-stretched and play back in the timeline exactly how you auditioned it from the browser. Remember, that each sample you select and drag will count towards one of your splice credits and that sample will now be part of your Splice library (even outside of Pro Tools).

Need to Change Tempo?: Thanks to Elastic Audio (Pro Tools’ powerful time-stretching, compression and pitch-shifting algorithm), you can quickly change the tempo of any track in Pro Tools (including with Splice loops/samples) by:

1. Set Audio Track to "Ticks"

2. Enable Elastic Audio on each track: make sure to pick the correct algorithm for the sample
